Which branch should we use?

We have been running Licode in production since last November so our Licode
code is old and it was modified heavily by us to make it work at that time.
It has been stable though since then so we never upgraded to the latest.
I believe we are now running into the issue with the latest Chrome where
everything looks like it appears to work but we have no video/audio on one
side of the connection (the caller side?).

Instead of trying to patch code from last November we have decided to get
onto the latest Licode. I have seen many posts about code being in this
branch or another so I wanted to make sure we start off with something that
will work for us.

Here is our configuration:

Amazon EC2
Turnserver for both STUN/TURN
HAProxy load balancers on ports 80/443 (all traffic including https,
stun/turn, and websockets goes through 443. The load balancer then decides
based on subdomain where it should be routed (web, turnserver, websockets,
etc…) and what protocol to use (http for some, tcp for most others).
We have one-on-one video chat rooms, group video chat rooms, and screen
sharing. Not really using recording yet as it was really basic back then
in November.
Our base browser support is only Chrome right now. We sometimes test on
Firefox but have had audio issues so Firefox support is low priority.

I am going to start our testing using the master branch but if there is
another branch that is more suited for our environment please let me know
before I spend a week or two on this. If anybody has better experience
with other branches let me know. And last but not least if there is a map
of what each branch represents such as Feature x is in Branch Fx, Feature y
is in Branch Fy, or if you do SSL use branch secure. That would be really
helpful.

Thanks,

robo

Hi robo!

Definitely you should use the master branch. It should work exactly the same for your purposes, checkout the blog post(http://lynckia.com/licode/async.html) and some of the previous ones for a quick glance at some of the new features and how to use them.

For instance you can use the option to separate erizo in different processes for improved stability. I don’t see anything in your setup that is not compatible with the new versions.

Good luck! :)–
